Catching Up

Last week went a lot better for me mood-wise, and I found myself with a few new balls to try to juggle. My business has started to blossom, and while this is exciting, I'm trying to balance professionalism with mommyhood. I will no doubt overcome this obstacle, and am grateful to have Jon to help me when I need it.

I chatted with a friend from Wisconsin last week as well about pre-schools. Her daughter is 3 and about to go to pre-school in the fall. That is, if she can find one that will accept her daughter. It turns out that April is the main month most pre-schools do pre-screening for the fall enrollment. She completely missed the boat, and I wondered how far in advance should a parent be getting their child(ren) ready for a half-day of school? So I called a pre-school within our school district, and it just so happens that we live in one of the top three rated school districts in the state. I was excited to hear this, and as I was speaking to the admissions director, she informed me that it wasn't too soon to get Anna's name on the list as there were 6 other students for her school year already listed. A few of those children's names have not yet been born. I thought this was crazy when the woman asked me if Anna was born, but then realized why she was asking. Suddenly I find myself researching schools, teaching philosophies, districts, funding, teacher longevity/turnover and so much more!
